
About RAG
Richmond Artists Guild was founded in 1955 with the goal of providing a forum for local artists to meet, improve their skills and to learn more about art.
Members are welcome at all levels from beginner to professional, to encourage, learn and support each other while fostering arts in our community.
Perks/value to RAG members:
- Attend the meeting in person to socialize with fellow artists and learn from the highly talented demo artists. OR Zoom it so you can stay at home (while on vacation, or from any location) and enjoy the Demo artist at the General Meeting. We offer hybrid coverage for attendance/socialization.
- Demo’s – all mediums – you always learn some technique, composition or colour to apply to the medium you use.
- Showing of paintings at events/displayed in Richmond Cultural Center.
- Photo gallery on Web site.
- Participate and enjoy community activities (Family Day at London Farm, Cultural Day, Steveston Salmon Festival – to name a few)
- Participate/attend Plein Air outings, or Open Studio time.
- Drop in with the Life Drawing group (model fee drop in charge)
- Critique meetings December and June. (participate with a piece of your art or learn from others artwork – Always educational, social and FUN)
Meetings
RAG members can attend monthly meetings every second Wednesday of the month from 6:00-8:45pm in the Creativity Room in the Richmond Cultural Centre Annex across from the Library.. A demonstration by a qualified artist is presented every month. Twice a year, a professional artist will provide critique of members’ paintings.
Members receive a newsletter /email every month to let them know who the demo artist will be. Also, posted on our website richmondartistsguild.com in the calendar.
Other activities may take place during the year and members will be informed via the newsletter/email and website “RAG EVENTS”. Activities may also be posted on Instagram.
Open Studio
Open Studio is held every Tuesday from 9:00am-1:00PM from mid-October to Mid-March at the Creativity Room at the Annex, Cultural Centre. There is a discounted room charge for RAG members who sign up for the entire session. There is also a drop in fee of $3 for RAG members and $5 for non RAG members. A great way to meet other artists and get informal feedback on your work
Life Drawing sessions
Life Drawing sessions are scheduled every Thursday from 9:30am-1:00PM from September to June. There is a discounted fee for RAG members who sign up for the entire session . There is also a drop in fee of $15 for RAG members and $18 for non RAG members. This covers room rental and Model fees.

The Plein Air group (MenInHats)
TThe Plein Air group (MenInHats) meets every Tuesday from 10:00am-1:00pm from mid-March to mid-October in various locations in the Lower Mainland. There is no fee to attend and you do not need to be a RAG member.

Art exhibitions and Sales
We attempt to have art exhibitions twice a year and a “Sale” in November which also serves to support a local charity organization.
Membership
New members are always welcome. Annual membership fee is $80 from September to June (no meetings in July and August). You can join at the first meeting in September or at any other time during the year. E-transfers are accepted for membership dues, just email Richmondartistsguild@gmail.com that would do it as the recipient (the bank will send you a confirmation and RAG will be notified by email). Cheques or cash are also accepted (receipt will be issued).
