RICHMOND ARTISTS GUILD

About Us

Richmond Artists Guild was founded in 1955 with the goal of providing a forum for local artists to meet, improve their skills and to learn more about art.

Members are welcome at all levels from beginner to professional, to encourage, learn and support each other while fostering arts in our community.

Meetings

RAG members can attend monthly meetings every second Wednesday of the month from 6:00-8:45pm in the painting room at Richmond Cultural Center.  A demonstration by a qualified artist is presented every month. Twice a year, a professional artist will provide critique of members’ paintings.

Members receive a newsletter and a calendar every month to let them know who the demo artist is and in which format the meeting will be held.

Other activities may take place during the year and members will be informed via the newsletter. Activities may also be posted on Instagram.

Zoom meetings

There will be times when the meeting and/or demo will be available via Zoom.

Click here to get a short tutorial on how to navigate within Zoom.

Open Studio

Open Studio is held every Tuesday from 9:00am-1:00PM from mid-October to Mid-March at the Creativity Room at the Annex, Cultural Center. You must be a RAG member to attend. A great way to meet other artists and get informal feedback on your work.

Life Drawing sessions

Life Drawing sessions are scheduled every Thursday from 9:30am-1:00PM from September to June.

There is usually space for drop-ins – email to register.  You are allowed to drop in twice before being asked to join RAG. The model fee is separate and accepted only in cash.

Life Drawing Schedule – different poses will be indicated on the schedule.

The Plein Air group (MenInHats)

The Plein Air group (MenInHats) meets every Tuesday from 10:00am-1:00pm from mid-March to mid-October in various locations in the Lower Mainland. There is no fee to attend and you do not need to be a RAG member.

Click on MenInHats logo which will take you straight to Events, indicating where the group will paint next.

Art exhibitions and Sales

We attempt to have art exhibitions twice a year and a “Guess Who Sale”  in November which also serves to support a local charity organization.
