About Loraine Wellman and her work:
Loraine Wellman has studied art ever since she was a child and was recommended to classes at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Later she attended Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr) and UBC as well as continuing to take additional courses and workshops. Following her “retirement” from teaching to raise a family, Loraine designed fabric arts projects for American magazines, did puppetry, and was a paper-doll artist before returning to her first loves of painting and drawing.
Loraine paints a wide variety of subjects with a focus on light, colour, and capturing a moment in time. Her paintings are in collections in Canada, USA, Europe and Taiwan.
