About Mike Huges and his work:
Mike Hughes was born in Vancouver in 1949 and has lived in Western Canada most of his life. As a child drawing, painting and creative hobbies were pursued more ardently than sports or other after school activities.
Following in his father’s footsteps in the audio visual arts, Mike was introduced to photography, audio recording and film making at an early age.
From his musician mother Mike inherited a good musical ear and an appreciation of all forms of music.
When Mike began drawing and painting at an early age he was never able to take formal training – and so is largely self-taught. Over the years he has experimented and honed his skills in pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolours, oils and acrylics.
His current work in producing corporate multimedia programs has given him much professional experience in creating graphic arts and animations on different computer platforms and software packages.
While Mike has been inspired by the works of several artists he is constantly striving to expand and re-define his own personal vision of the world and reflect that vision in his artistic expression.
Mike currently produces corporate videos and documentaries, studies computer art and animation, attends life drawing with the Richmond Artists Guild, paints as much as possible, spends time with his family and passes out from exhaustion regularly.
